Nearly half of IT and Finance professionals have considered moving overseas in response to globalisation, according to new research commissioned by professional resourcing firm Experis.
The survey of 700 professionals in IT and Finance investigates attitudes towards the major trends which impact the working world, reported The Global Recruiter. Across both sectors, the results reveal that global rivals from developing markets are challenging the two industries in the UK.
In addition, 62 per cent of respondents from the IT sector and 52 per cent of those from the Finance sector said that Britain is faced with strong competition from overseas, suggesting that businesses in the UK may need to work harder to remain in front of the competition.
The study reveals that technological developments continue to change working practices, with roughly six in 10 respondents from IT and Finance saying they anticipate that remote working will become the norm instead of the exception, with mobile technology becoming more and more prevalent. However, remote working is not only about technology.
Geoff Smith, the Experis’s managing director for the UK and Ireland, said that employers need to change their attitude to effectively manage people, ensuring they establish the right levels of trust. He explained that remote working practices and transparent working measures should be clearly articulated in order to ensure the levels of quality output are consistent.
