Britons planning to relocate overseas have been advised to consider practical arrangements before moving.
InternationalLiving.com executive editor Jennifer Stevens said that managing their finances is among the most important issues for expats to consider. She explained that Brits must decide whether they want to keep using their UK bank account with ATM cards or open up a new account in their new home. This could be a key issue if expats have to regularly transfer money internationally to make mortgage payments or pension contributions.
She went on to say that it is also important for UK expats to work out what they want done with their mail. She pointed out that although many Brits who move overseas worry about their mail being forwarded, it’s actually quite a straightforward process.
Another important issue for Brits moving overseas to look at was health insurance, according to Ms Stevens. She said that it was a good idea for new expats to seek the advice of others who had been living abroad for a number of years before making decisions.
Ms Stevens was speaking after those considering relocating to the US were informed that the property market in the country was more complicated than in years gone by.
