New NZ website looks to encourage talented immigrants

Immigration New Zealand (INZ) has announced improved tools to help the country bring fresh talent to its soil.
Officials from INZ said this week that it had re-launched an upgraded version of the New Zealand Now website, which it hopes will effectively aid local businesses in finding skilled offshore individuals to fill key roles.
The website has been a primary tool for overseas recruiting for years but recent upgrades will allow the tool to be more ‘user-friendly’ and will offer region-specific information to users based on the local IP address, which shows what part of the world they are using the site from, officials said.
INZ’s general manager of settlement, protection and attraction, Stephen Dunstan, said that this would enable that messages sent to potential skilled immigrants are specifically tailored to promote New Zealand in the best possible way to each user.
The upgrades come as the number of people visiting the website has seen a significant rise over the last several months. June saw a 60 per cent increase in traffic when compared to February of this year.
Also upgraded is the SkillFinder tool, which New Zealand-based employers can use to help them connect with the skilled workers they’re looking for, according to officials. Dunstan said that the program would help employers to better understand their potential audience in the search for talent.
