Rise in the number of UK workers moving abroad

The Office for National Statistics has released figures that show an increase in the number of British workers looking for overseas work in an effort to secure the financial future of their families.
For the year ending in July 353,000 emigrants made the decision to leave the UK. This is a significant increase on the 336,000 people who emigrated during 2011. According to the ONS the majority of people moving abroad are doing so because they have been offered a definite job in another country.
This year more than 127,000 workers left for a definite job compared to 108,000 a year earlier. VisaFirst managing director, Edwina Shanahan, said a decrease in the number of work opportunities in Britain meant she has seen a rise in the number of people seeking work overseas.
She added that a slowdown in growth across the UK meant more people were choosing to move to countries such as Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Shanahan explained that these countries were proving particularly popular with British expats because they are actively recruiting skilled workers from the UK and offering competitive salaries in order to attract those workers.
